About me
I was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. In 1987, I began my teaching career in a middle school in Harlem. After 6 years I found myself at Murry Bergtraum High School where I taught for 9 years. Little did I know that the events of 9/11 would change the course of my life. I have been teaching in California since August 2002. In 2004 I was added as an adjunct professor in the English Department at SRJC. I've merged that with high school ever since. I joined the faculty at SRHS in 2005.
I have a Masters Degree in English. I developed and added an Ethnic Studies English Course curriculum to all of my Junior level classes in 2021. Over the course of this last yea, I've completed coursework at SFSU for a Graduate Certificate in Ethnic Studies. I'm passionate about this course of study. In my presentation, I hope to share that passion with you as a path to renew and invigorate your own teaching path.
